BarberShop was opened in 1962 by Stratos Vekris in a small ground-floor space on Plastira Square, Pagrati. Stratos cut the hair of three generations of the same Athens neighbourhood until 2014, when he passed the shop to his apprentice Kostas Pelekanos, who had been with him since 1991. Kostas is now sixty-one. He runs the shop today with a team of four other barbers and an apprentice, including Stratos's grandson Manos Vekris, who returned from a master programme at Pall Mall Barbers in London in 2022 to take Chair 1 — the chair his grandfather worked at for fifty-two years. The shop has not been modernised. The five barber's chairs are the original Takara Belmonts, re-upholstered three times. The mirrors are the same etched mirrors. The floor tiles are Stratos's.
