About the Shop
Stratos opened the shop in 1962.
Stratos Vekris started cutting in 1962 in a 36m² ground-floor space on Plastira Square. He was twenty-three years old. He cut the hair of the same three generations of Pagrati men until he handed the shop to Kostas in 2014.
Kostas had apprenticed with Stratos since 1991, and kept everything. We added a second basin in 2014 and an espresso machine in 2018, and that is the entire renovation we have done in eleven years.

Manos took his grandfather’s chair.
Manos Vekris is Stratos’s grandson. He apprenticed at Pall Mall Barbers in London for three years and returned to take Chair 1 — his grandfather’s chair — in spring 2022.
The other three barbers (Apostolis, Spyros, Christos) and the apprentice (Vassilis, third year) make up the team. We are a walk-in shop and an online-booking shop; we do not take phone bookings, because Kostas does not want to spend his day with a receiver in his hand.
What has not changed
- The five Takara Belmont chairs, bought in 1962
- The etched mirrors — they are Stratos's
- The floor tiles — also Stratos's
- The Saturday-morning queue, which starts at nine and breaks at noon
- Tuesday at eleven, still the best time to walk in
Sit a while.
Book a chair online, or walk in and wait with an espresso.
